Symbiotic tree surgery seeks to provide a very professional approach to carrying out tree works. The fact is trees do not always favor being reduced regularly but we understand it is a necessary process to be able to live with trees in our gardens, parks and streets. If we can, we opt for the 'less is more' approach as minimizing the size and number of the cuts will stress a tree less. We know that we cannot always carry every job out like this. Sometimes the location of the tree or the trees vitality (health) will mean we have to carry out heavier reductions or complete removal. We believe finding the balance here is important for the trees and the owner by delivering an outcome that will satisfy the client while minimizing harm or finding a way to retain the tree. Conservation is important to James and he is determined to have a positive impact on the environment in anyway possible, starting with tree preservation and tree care.

Crown Reduction

There is a real art to this profession.

We offer light reductions and heavy reductions, generally specified by the volume of crown to be removed as a percentage. We would normally range between 20% - 40% in this category. We try to stay in the realm of 25%-30% as this is the sweet spot for non vigorous species such as Beech and Birch.

Tree Removal

Old age, rot, deseise and changing ground conditions are all reasons we sometimes have to remove trees. We never really want to but sometimes it is just necessary as dead or dying trees can become a very big hazard. We can carry out removal in all sorts of situations whether it be tight access or have that unfortunate placed greenhouse, we've got the expert knowledge and equipment to get it sorted.

Tree Planting

We use one of the most reliable suppliers in the south east to ensure that we get the best quality of tree stock. This is a very satisfying job to do as I always love leaving site with more trees than we started. We can replace a tree that has been removed or install a new hedge line. We will be able to advice you on different species that may suit the ground that you have.

Crown Thinning

This operation is by far better in terms of less impact on the health of the tree. We can achieve great results through thinning the crown of a tree. Although the outer dimensions are reduced minimally, More light will be able to shine through the crown meanwhile the crown will retain its natural characteristics and shape. Percentages are used again between 10% - 30%.

Deadwooding

Trees naturally shed deadwood through out their life cycle. It is always prudent to remove large dead limbs, especially in areas of high usage. This job can vary depending on the severity of the deadwood in the crown. Its always worth to check it out as sometimes there can be something rather worrying out of view from the ground.

Tree Treatments

Left untouched, over time these conditions limit the photosynthetic ability of the leaves and put the tree under stress. Pollarding

Pollarding is a great way to deal with vigorous growing trees such as Willow and Poplar. Its not as aesthetically pleasing as a reduction, but in certain situations, it can be the perfect solution. Its not advised to carry out these operations on trees that require a lighter approach. Cherry, walnuts and beech should avoid pollarding!
